What is Immich?
Immich gives you the comfort of a modern cloud photo app without handing your memories to a big company. The app connects to an Immich server that you run yourself, at home or on a rented machine, and automatically backs up the photos and videos you take. Browsing feels like a commercial gallery: a fast timeline, albums, a map of where photos were taken and smart search.
Key Features
- Automatic background backup of photos and videos
- Fast timeline with drag scroll bar and memories
- Smart search by objects, people, places and EXIF data
- Shared albums and multi-user support
- HEIC/HEIF and RAW support with original quality kept
Getting Started
Immich is for people who want to leave Google Photos or iCloud but still want automatic backup. You need a running Immich server first (Docker makes this easy). After installing the app, enter your server address, log in and enable backup for the folders you want to keep safe.
