What is Joplin?
Joplin is a well-known open-source alternative to Evernote. Notes are written in Markdown, organised into notebooks and tags, and can hold to-do lists, images and attachments. The same notes appear on Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and iOS, synchronised through a service you choose, with optional end-to-end encryption.
Key Features
- Markdown notes with notebooks, sub-notebooks and tags
- To-do items with alarms and reminders
- Sync via Nextcloud, WebDAV, Dropbox, OneDrive or Joplin Cloud
- Optional end-to-end encryption of all notes
- Import from Evernote and export to Markdown or JEX
Getting Started
Joplin suits students, writers and anyone moving away from Evernote or OneNote. After installing, choose a sync target in settings so notes appear on your other devices. This F-Droid build can arrive a little later than the official release and leaves out camera and location features.
Open Source and Privacy
Joplin is developed in the open by Laurent Cozic and released under the MIT license. The code is hosted at github.com/laurent22/joplin, so anyone can check what the app does. The version on this page has no ads or tracking libraries flagged by F-Droid.
